What is Eco Plant Wash?
Glad you asked...
Eco Plant Wash is our natural alternative to toxic pesticides.
Instead of drenching your garden in harsh chemical sprays, we believe in something simpler - just give your plants a shower with EPW and wash your worries away.
Classed as Non-Toxic by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), EPW is better than pesticides because its a plant wash - formulated and produced right here in Aotearoa, using organic-based, biodegradable ingredients - nothing nasty, nothing unnecessary.
How It Works
Over time, dust, residues and pest debris build up on leaves, blocking sunlight, clogging pores, and slowing growth. This stress makes plants more vulnerable to health issues, moulds and pests.
A weekly wash with EPW helps your plants breathe, absorb more light and build natural resilience against common pests and diseases.
Made in New Zealand
We craft Eco Plant Wash with high quality, organic certified botanical oils, citric acid and NZ grown canola oil - combined with our own proprietary fatty acid blend. This nano-emulsified formula gently cleans, protects and supercharges plant vitality leaving your crops foliage fresh, healthy and ready to grow.
We keep production local because it gives us full control over the process - we get to decide what goes into the blend & that means every ingredient is either grown or sourced from right here in Aotearoa, 100% locally made as many kiwi inputs as we could fit into the bottle.
Safe for Most Plants (and Beneficial Insects)
EPW has been tested on fruit trees, vegetable crops, houseplants and ornamentals. We have great success with most plants and the best part is that EPW is bee-friendly, plus it won’t harm beneficial insects when used as directed - making it ideal for both home and commercial gardens.
Better for your garden & better for the planet - EPW contains no: Pesticides, systemic chemicals, detergents, dyes, alcohols, preservatives, chlorines, endocrine disruptors or petroleum derived inputs!
Plant Based Ingredients
Extra Virgin Cold-Pressed Canola Oil
NZ-grown, non-GMO, safe on beneficial microbes, canola oil acts as a natural surfactant that loosens & lifts contaminants from the leaf surface which improves gas exchange by clearing the stomata. Canola oil also coats your leaves with a thin bio-film that reduces water loss & restores natural gloss without suffocating the leaf.
Organic Thyme Oil
BioGro New Zealand certified. Naturally rich in thymol and carvacrol, thyme oil provides strong antifungal and antibacterial properties.
Organic Peppermint Oil
BioGro New Zealand certified. Peppermint is naturally rich in menthol & other terpenes that can help deter aphids, whiteflies & spider mites. Peppermint also has cooling properties that can reduce plant stress, reduce heat wilt, & enhance leaf turgor.
Organic Clove Bud Oil
BioGro New Zealand certified. Naturally high in eugenol, a bioactive compound with strong anti-fungal properties. Clove oil helps oxidize & dissolve sticky residues, and leaves leaves fresh, sanitised, and glossy without synthetic chemicals.
Pure Filtered Water
Pure, filtered water from New Zealand, Di-ionised to ensure maximum purity & zero contaminants - as natural as it gets & we all know that plants love water.
Citric Acid
Non-GMO, New Zealand supplied. Citric acid is a natural organic acid that helps dissolve mineral deposits, scum & residues on leaves, improving gas exchange & light absorption. Fully biodegradable & safe for soil and the environment.
Proprietary Long-Chain C18 Fatty Acid Blend
Crafted locally under our control. Forms a breathable nano-film that gently cleans leaf surfaces, removes honeydew & pest residues without blocking the stomata. C18 fatty acids are known to support beneficial microbes like Trichoderma & Bacillus subtilis, promote enhanced plant growth, reduce stress & optimise photosynthesis.
No Pesticides or Harsh Chemicals
No Alcohols
Alcohols can damage plants by dissolving the waxy cuticle layers that protect the leaves. Alcohol based sprays are also known to kill pollinators like bees & beneficial insects. Alcohol based sprays are known to cause leaf burn (phytotoxicity)
No Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (or Detergents)
Man-made detergents like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate can strip protective leaf wax, stress plants, and harm beneficial microbes. They’re toxic to aquatic life, disrupt ecosystems by reducing surface tension, and harm pollinators. Though biodegradable, they can persist for months, causing damage as they break down.
No Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is often used in fatty acid blends or as Sodium Cocoate or Sodium Coco Sulfate (SCS). High in lauric acid, it dissolves protective leaf cuticles, causing dehydration and phytotoxicity. It can also kill beneficial microbes like Trichoderma, Bacillus, and Azospirillum.
No Mineral oils
Petroleum-based, non-biodegradable oils can persist in the environment for weeks to months. They cause leaf burn (phytotoxicity) and suffocate beneficial microbes, including fungi, mycorrhizae, and good bacteria, disrupting soil and plant health.
No Neem oil
Highly toxic to aquatic life and harmful to pollinators and beneficial predators. The active compound in neem, azadirachtin, can damage beneficial microbial enzymes, including those in Trichoderma and Bacillus subtilis, disrupting natural plant protection.
No Pesticides
Chemically designed to kill or repel pests, these substances leave toxic residues on food and plants, posing risks to human health through ingestion and long-term exposure. They disrupt soil biology, kill beneficial microbes and pollinators, contaminate waterways, and accumulate in ecosystems, causing resistance and biodiversity loss.
Low Use Rates
Eco Plant Wash is a highly concentrated formula that has ultra low use rates.
When used as a foliar spray, application rates are as follows:
Sensitive Plants - 5ml per 1L water
Maintenance Sprays - 10ml per 1L water
Heavy Cleaning - 15ml per 1L water
